Adref - Advertiser Reference, this is a parameter to be used by brands for tracking of a metric on their programs.

Note: This parameter can also be used by publishers with the brand’s permission in order to track and calculate CPC events on the platform.

Advertiser - A website or brand that rewards publishers for promoting its products or brands.  See brand.

advertiser_reference - See Adref

Affiliate - see Publisher

Agency - Independent company used by some advertisers to account manage (i.e. admin work/publisher recruitment.)

AMR - Regional abbreviation of Americas.

Analytics - Partnerize's reporting and data analysis suite.

AOV - Average Order Value (AOV) tracks the average amount spent each time a customer places an order on a website. AOV can be calculated by dividing total revenue, by the number of orders.

APAC - Regional abbreviation of Asia Pacific.

API Credentials - These are the keys that can be found in reporting download links.  These are required to integrate tooling with our APIs.

Attribution - Method used to track the different touch points that result in a sale/lead for a Brand.

B

Brand - A company that sells a product or service online. Brands partner with partners to help promote their services or products online. Brands provide their partners with ads, banners, text links, and other creatives to promote in exchange for commissions on leads or sales. Can also be referred to as advertisers.

Backdating - The process of changing basket commission, override values or conversion values of specific sales.

Banner ad - A clickable graphic ad. Banners can be static or animated and are offered in various sizes. Banners often display the Brand’s logo, best-selling products, promotions, or highlight any new offer that is available from the retailer.

Batch Commission - Batch validate or reject commissions by using a .csv file. 

Bonus - A supplementary commission payment that can be a one time payment or spaced over an interval.

C

Campaign - Campaigns are the performance marketing programs that brands run on Partnerize.  Typically a brand will have one campaign, but some may have multiple.  Partners join a brand network and then apply to the different campaigns a brand may be running.

campaign_title - Specific name of the campaign

camref - Campaign Reference Is a unique ID of a publisher on a particular campaign.  This is given once a publisher applies to a campaign. If they are approved, or rejected, they have a camref. Once the camref is assigned, it is never changed - even if their status changes.  A camref must be used by a partner to track and get paid.

Category - Passed by a brand to partnerize.  Typically used for commissioning. Varies upon Brand needs, flight/ car/ hotel, airport codes, clothing, shoes etc.

Click - Occurs when a consumer uses their mouse or touchpad to click on a link.

click_date - Date of click (dd/mm/yyyy).

click_date_time - Amalgamation of click_date (dd/mm/yyyy hh:mm).

Click Path - A click path, shows the path that users travel across a site on their way to a defined end goal. This can help you understand the sequence of actions visitors followed prior to a conversion.

click_time - Time of click (HH:MM:SS).

Click Through - When a visitor clicks on a link or banner on the publisher's website and is taken to the Brand’s website.

Click Through Rate -  The ratio of users who click on a specific link to the number of total users who view a page, email, or advertisement.

Commission - Compensation provided to the partner for generating a sale/lead.

Content - Promotional materials advertisers use to attract consumers to their websites or products. These include text links, banner ads, coupons, email copy and HTML, among others.

Contributor - One or more partners who drive contributing clicks

Conversions - When a visitor takes the action the brand wanted. This could be a purchase on the brand website, filling out a form, or downloading a mobile app.

conversion_date - Date of conversion (dd/mm/yyyy).

conversion_id - Basket level ID.

conversion_lag - Time from click to conversion

conversion_reference - An advertiser or brand’s unique transaction identifier. (ARE-456977) Can also be referred to as the order id or customer reference (travel vertices might use this for the itinerary id for example).

Conversion rate - the percentage of users who complete a click through to a conversion.

conversion_status - Approved/ Pending/ Rejected/ Mixed - simply what status the conversion is in (basket).

conversion_time - Time of conversion (HH:MM:SS)

Converter - The partner who drives the last click

Cookie - A small piece of data sent from a website and stored in a user's web browser while the user is browsing that website.

Cookie length - The amount of time the cookie was updated (from the click) to the time the sale happened.

Cookie period - How long a partner has to convert a click to a conversion as set by the Brand.

Cookie status - The current status of the cookie: Fresh - new/ Nibbled - sale has converted/ Stale - expired

Country - A metric passed with a conversion that can be used to segregate data.

CPA - Cost per action or cost per acquisition (CPA) is an online advertising marketing strategy that allows an advertiser to pay partners for a specified action from a prospective customer.

CPC - Cost per Click.

CPI - Cost per impression.

CPM - Cost per 1000 impressions (Mille)

creative_type - Code for creative type (if used).

CSV - Comma separated values. Often in context of downloading reports

Destination - webpage destination of the tracking link.

Deep link - Deep Linking occurs when a partner takes an existing affiliate tracking link and changes the destination URL to direct to a specific landing page within a Brand’s website.

E

eCPA - Effective cost per action. A metric used which calculates how much the advertiser actually paid for each action.

eCPC - "Effective Cost Per Click," or eCPC, is a metric used by Internet marketers to gauge the effectiveness of their online campaigns.

EMEA - Regional abbreviation of Europe, the Middle East, and Africa.

EPC - Average Earnings per Click.

Feeds - Files that include attributes and details for products that a Brand sells on their website.

FTP - File Transfer Protocol is a standard network protocol used to transfer computer files from one host to another host.

Fraud Manager - Fraud Manager provides you with automated tools to detect and address possible fraudulent activity on your campaigns, across several click and conversion metrics.

G

GDPR - General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) is a regulation in EU law on data protection and privacy in the European Union and the European Economic Area. It also addresses the transfer of personal data outside the EU and EEA areas.

H

HTML5 banners - Interactive banners that do not use flash and are dynamic in nature.

I

Image - A format of promotional material made available by brands. Tracking links can be embedded in images to use on partner websites.

Impression - An instance of a creative or other online advertisement being seen by a user.

Influencer - A person with the ability to influence potential buyers of a product or service by promoting or recommending the items on social media.

Insights - A tool to visualize collected data.

Initiator - The partner who drives the first click

IP address - Internet protocol address. Numerical label assigned to a device using the internet.

ISP - Internet Service Provider.

Item report - A report of item level data ie every single item in the conversion or  basket is listed as a separate data entry.

item_publisher_commission - Commission earned by the partner for the individual item.

item_status - Approved/ Pending/ Rejected - the status the conversion is in (basket)

item_value - The value of item within the basket.

JAPAC - Regional abbreviation of Japan Asia Pacific.

JSON - A data format.

Landing page - The page that a visitor is directed to after clicking a link.

M

Merchant - A website or brand that rewards publishers for targeted traffic (see: advertiser and brand)

Metadata - This is data that is additional to standard data reported on.

N

Network - A brand network includes all of their campaigns. You are initially accepted onto a brand’s network before applying to campaigns.

Order ID - See conversion reference

P

Paid Placement - Ad or media placed for an upfront fee, commission, or both.  Sometimes referred to as a tenancy

Parameter - A locale in the pixel that captures specific information.

Partner - A partner has an online audience, whether that be the through a website or e-mail database (affiliate/partner or publisher are the same and can be used interchangeably.)

Pay Per Call - A form of affiliate marketing where a Brand pays partners who refer customers to their call center, and can be customized to pay for leads based on several conditions, including call time, in-call actions, call location, and more.

Performance Marketing - Refers to online marketing and advertising programs in which Brands pay partners and marketing companies when a specific action is completed; such as a sale, lead or click.

PII - Personally identifiable information (PII) is any data that could potentially identify a specific individual. Any information that can be used to distinguish one person from another and can be used for deanonymizing previously anonymous data can be considered PII.

Pivot - A data summarization tool that can automatically sort, count total or give the average of the data stored in one table or spreadsheet, displaying the results in a second table showing the summarized data.

Promotional Commission - Temporary commission increases and decreases that will always take precedence over Standard and Voucher commissions.

Pixel - A sales tracking code that sends the required information to Partnerize’s API.

Publisher - See Partner

publisher_commission - Commission earned by the partner (basket).

publisher_id - Unique identification number given to each partner.

publisher_name - Name of partner.

publisher_self_bill_id - The identification number given when a partner generates a self bill to withdraw commission.

pubref - Publisher reference. This is a parameter to be used by partners for tracking of a metric on their programs. Pubref is only visible on the partner’s side.  Loyalty partners typically track their users with pubref.

reject_reason - The reason supplied by a Brand for rejecting a conversion.

ROI - Return On Investment (ROI) measures the profit generated by ads relative to the cost of those ads.

ROAS - Return On Ad Spend (ROAS) measures gross revenue generated for every dollar spent on advertising.

S

Sale - When a purchase is made through an affiliate link.

S2S - Server to Server.

SDK - Software Development Kit (SDK) or devkit for short. It’s a set of software tools and programs used by developers to create applications for specific platforms.

sku - Stock Keeping Unit. This is unique to each brand and customarily relates to each individual item purchasable on the advertiser’s site. (e.g. shoe/shirt model number.)

SLA - Service level agreement.

Split Commission - A method of attributing Commissions to multiple partners at all stages of the click trail.  Split Commissions impact commissioning, payments, and reporting.

Standard report - A report of basket-level data - Conversion total.

Strategic Partnership - An arrangement between a Brand and partner to undertake a mutually beneficial project while each retains its independence.

Sub ID - A term often used by Brands. Also known as pubref (see also: pubref)

Sub-affiliate network - A partner which manages their own network of sites that promote Brands. All activity is tracked through one account on the network.

T

T&Cs - Terms and Conditions. The terms that are agreed upon between you and the advertiser that govern the relationship and set forth associated rules for participation.

Text Link - A text link is a creative that may feature a promotion/offer, or simply contain the name of the advertiser or a category they want to feature.

TP - Tracking period.

TQ - Transaction queries. A tool for partner’s to raise queries for incorrect or missing conversions. There are three types of TQs: Declined/Untracked or Incorrect Commissions.

Tracking Link - A unique linking code that tracks the activity of partners and their users for Brands. This code helps Brands attribute visitor clicks and converters to the correct partner. Tracking links can also be embedded into creatives such as text links and images.

Transaction Value - Amount paid by the user for a product. This is passed in the conversion syntax as "value."

U

Unique visitors - Unique individual or browser which has either accessed a site.

URL - Uniform Resource Locator.

User - A user is an entity that can log in to a network to view their account details like campaigns, commissions, creatives, etc. Each user is created on a single network. However, each user can then be given access to any other network as well.

V

Value - This is the total transaction cost of the items purchased.

Validations - The process of approving or rejecting partner conversions or itemized conversions.

Vertical - A vertical market is one where businesses and marketers cater to the needs of a specific group of people within an industry.

Voucher code - A code that advertisers supply to publishers for them to promote on their sites that give extra money off a purchase.
